What is Sports Therapy?
Well it’s an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability. It combines a number of principles of sport and exercise science in order to prepare participants for training and competition.
To find out more about the sports injury clinic and to see if we can help please get in touch and ask to speak to a therapist.
Members of the Society of Sports Therapists
Sports Therapy and the title of “Sports Therapist” is not a protected name in the same way that a Physiotherapist is. This means that many people practising as Sports Therapists may have minimal qualifications from simply having completed a sports massage or personal training course. It is important to always check the qualifications of any practitioner that you are using.
As members of the Society of Sports Therapists we are graduates from accredited degree courses. We participate in regular continuing professional development, including short courses, access to the latest research material, conferences and lectures.
For more information on what a Sports Therapist is and the requirements to achieve and maintain an accreditation please visit the Society’s website here:
